Be Sleek & Sexy with a Maca Mocktail

Lepidium meyenii (Maca Root)

Hmmmm. Right.  Well, sleek and sexy sounds good, but  macamocktail?  What is all this weird stuff, you ask? ! Well, there may be times when you just don’t feel like drinking (alcohol) that is, but still want the sexiness of holding a cocktail in your hand.  Or if you are working on weight loss and trying to cut down on alcohol or go “on the wagon”  for a while, then a maca mocktail is just the libation for you! Read on to learn about  maca,  mocktails, and how to be sleek & sexy (without starvation).

Ok,  let’s look at  maca (Lepidium meyenii).  This “superfood”  is grown  on the highlands of Peru at elevations of between 8,000 – 14,500 feet.  It is a hardy perennial and was domesticated by the Incas 2,000 years ago.  It is used by the native Peruvians as  food and medicine.

Here are some rather positive health benefits attributed to maca:

  • improves memory
  • enhances libido(for both men & women)
  • adaptogenic properties (which means that it is good for your sex & stress hormones)
  • increases energy & boosts the immune system
Due to the above benefits claimed by people who have used it on a regular basis and by researchers, maca is known as the “natural Viagra” or the Peruvian “ginseng”.
Wow, who needs booze when the mighty maca can do so much!
    Are you excited yet?
Here’s a temptingly salacious concoction I created with the mighty maca.  It also contains coconut water to re-balance your electrolytes, pomegranate juice for added vitamins and antioxidants, and cayenne pepper to boost your metabolism.  This mocktail has no alcohol, which means it will not wreak havoc on your blood sugar balance. (When your blood sugar spikes and then plummets, it triggers the desire to eat more than you need, a.k.a binge!)
If you are concerned about your weight and want to feel more energetic and still enjoy a fun time at the cocktail hour, do try this mocktail. Maca Mocktail
